The Retro Kings
David Cliff
Guitars, Harmonica and Vocals
While David’s song writing is fluid and moves between edgy blues/funk to soft contemporary, he’s always had an interest in strong melodies by using altered musical arrangements.
Canadian born, the singer songwriter and performer has been interested in music, and collaboration to help bring out the best of an original song and the musicians that support it.
From his younger days in Toronto, he has been songwriting, collaborating and learning music from members of Pursuit of Happiness, Moxie Fruvious and Broken Social Scene. He is now involved with his most recent project, the Retro Kings in Kingston Ontario.
The band was basically designed as a folk/rock blend of singers and performers. They all sing, which is unique in a pseudo “cover band”.
“Our live performance is heavily influenced by vocal harmonies and the original and classic songs are arranged to support each singer”.
John Stevenhaagen

John was born and raised in Kingston Ontario and has enjoyed being an active participant in the local music scene for over 50 years. He has played in numerous local bands as both a guitarist and percussionist. He also contributes by adding harmony vocals, providing added warmth and versatility to the bands overall sound.
Kenton Terrell
Bass and Vocals
i started playing in bands at 14 in my fathers band , it was a dance band, i played into my twenties, we played hundreds of gigs. at 16 i also started playing in rock bands, as well as playing bass i was often the main lead singer. at seventeen i decided to go to college for music, which did,nt work out, but i needed highschool music, so i jumped right in to grade 12 music which was very challenging but did well, in the end my mother put an end to that college idea.so i continued playing in various semi professional bands through the years, the most notable being my previous band , which was very serious but not enough fun, it consisted of billy smith a full time professional guitarist singer, the drummer had played with gino scarpelli of goddo , and myself and we shared the lead vocals evenly. now i am in the retro kings and having the time of my life playing the music i love with a great bunch of guys.
